As a licensed New York Excess Line Broker, Third Space is authorized to place certain coverages with insurers that are not licensed by the State of New York. Non-admitted insurers are eligible under N.Y. Insurance Law § 2118 and are reviewed for financial responsibility, but are not regulated as to rate and form by the NYDFS. Losses arising from the insolvency of a non-admitted insurer are not covered by the New York Property/Casualty Insurance Security Fund. We disclose the use of non-admitted insurers in writing before binding any excess line policy.
Third Space is compensated primarily by the insurance carriers with which we place your coverage, typically through commissions calculated as a percentage of premium. We may also receive contingent or incentive compensation from carriers based on production volume, profitability, retention, or similar criteria. Specific compensation on your policy will be disclosed in writing at or before the time of application, in accordance with 11 NYCRR Part 30 (Regulation 194).
